While Myers Park and Dilworth are known for their charming residential streets, both offer convenient local shopping as well. Dilworth has a popular assortment of eclectic consignment shops as well as several small shopping centers. These include Dilworth Gardens, the Courtyard, Atherton Mill, Kenilworth Commons and Twin Oaks. Myers Park has a small shopping and dining district at its eastern edge.

Two sites to note in the Myers Park and Dilworth are the Carolinas Medical Center and Queens University. The Medical Center, located in Dilworth, is one of the state's largest hospitals and the central facility of the Carolinas HealthCare System. Opened in 1940, the facility provides general medical care and specialized programs for a variety of diagnoses.

Queens University, located in the center of Myers Park, is a private, Presbyterian institution offering liberal arts programs in a variety of formats and subjects. Graduate and undergraduate courses of study are available, as well as programs designed for working professionals. Queens University was established in 1857 and took up residence in Myers Park in the early part of the 20th century.
